Job summary

Leidos in New Jersey is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers with a focus on electric utility design engineering. The role involves developing design and construction work packages for overhead and underground systems and coordinating with clients to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Candidate should have 2+ years of experience, a relevant degree, and proficiency with NESC. Some travel and fieldwork are expected, with opportunities for professional growth and training.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of prior relevant experience is required.
• Experience with distribution projects from kickoff through design approval with client interaction.
• Experience with utility reliability projects.
• Proficiency with the NESC.
• Valid U.S. driver's license; some travel expected.
• Willingness to perform field and office work; outdoor environments occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations for pole loading, guying, conductor sags/tensions, voltage drop and flicker.
• Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews.
• Coordinate with utilities amid conflicts; develop large design packages for urban projects.
