Job summary

Leidos in New Jersey is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers who will develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems, both overhead and underground. You will work with clients to ensure top-quality results and gain experience in NESC, structural analysis, GIS design, field data collection, and client design standards.

Some travel to customer sites in New Jersey is required; remote work is possible within commutable distance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of prior relevant experience is required.
• Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred) or equivalent experience
• Experience with the execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approval
• Experience with utility reliability projects
• Proficiency with the NESC
• Possess a valid U.S. driver's license
• Willingness to perform field and office work; some travel to customer sites
• Travel could be required and will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates

Responsibilities

• Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Review client-provided work and assess scope.
• Perform engineering calculations such as pole loading, sag/tension, and voltage drop.
• Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews.
• Coordinate conflicting utilities and field requirements on large design packages.
• Develop design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments.
