Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Distribution Designer to design and review overhead and underground distribution lines from 4 kV to 69 kV, including URD, re-conductoring and asset replacement projects. The role involves coordinating small design teams, reviewing client standards, and providing engineering support during construction.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s in electrical engineering (master’s preferred for experience), hands-on CAD/GIS tools, and at least 2 years in utility or telecom

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Master’s degree counts toward years of experience.
• Technical training or coursework related to utility design, GIS, CAD or electric utility infrastructure.
• 2+ years of utility, telecom, joint use, or make-ready design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and review overhead and underground distribution lines from 4 kV to 69 kV.
• Develop overhead, URD, re-conductoring, asset replacement and underground distribution work packages.
• Design complex projects in urban and rural environments per client specifications and codes.
• Coordinate small design teams to develop budgets, scoping documents, criteria and deliverables.
• Provide engineering assistance during construction and attend related meetings.
• Identify corrective actions when project objectives aren’t met.
• Interpret codes and develop standards for construction projects.
• Promote engineering professionalism and establish scheduling, resources and requirements.
