Job summary

First Due seeks a Director of Platform Engineering to lead DevOps, SRE, and DBRE, turning fragmented practices into a centralized, disciplined function. The role requires hands-on depth and executive presence to represent platform reliability to the ELT.

Reporting to SVP of Engineering, this leader will shape incident-management, observability, and developer experience while building the platform from the ground up.

Qualifications

• CI/CD and deployment-pipeline modernization at scale.
• Formal SRE practice: SLOs, observability/alerting tooling, incident management.
• On-call/incident-management program design and RCA practice enforcement.
• Database reliability/operations experience for high-traffic databases.
• Vertical SaaS, regulated, or mission-critical software is a plus; public safety experience is an advantage.
• Executive presence: communicating reliability and risk to ELT.

Responsibilities

• Centralize CI/CD and deployment practices across product lines; own rollout.
• Contribute hands-on to deployments and automation, not just direction.
• Define and enforce production reliability standards and dashboards.
• Own on-call tooling, rotation design, escalation policy; ensure RCA discipline.
• Own database reliability, schema governance, backup, and capacity planning.
