Job summary

Providence is seeking a Director of Professional Coding to provide strategic and operational leadership for professional coding across the health system. This role ensures coding operations are compliant, accurate, and timely, supporting claim submission and regulatory reporting.

You will develop and implement coding strategies, oversee coding teams, and drive performance against organizational goals. Collaborating with Revenue Cycle leadership and clinical partners, you will improve coding

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree: AHIMA accredited HIM program or other healthcare related field of study.
• 10+ years of extensive background in ICD-10-CM coding and official coding guidelines.
• 7+ years in management/supervisory role overseeing coding operations and teams.
• Proven ability to standardize complex processes and maintain consistent standards across multiple facilities.
• Experience with process improvement methodology and change management in complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead professional coding operations across the health system.
• Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely coding of professional services.
• Develop and implement coding strategies, standards, and best practices.
• Drive performance, quality, productivity, and compliance outcomes.
• Partner with clinical, operational, compliance, and revenue cycle leaders to improve processes and results.
