Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Director Payroll to lead end-to-end payroll operations across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong controls in a regulated healthcare environment.

The role partners with HRIS, technical teams, and external providers to optimize payroll systems and processes. This leader will manage a payroll team, drive policy development, and pursue continuous improvement to support scalable operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state operations.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing payroll teams.
• Experience with U.S. and Canadian payroll operations and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead U.S. and Canadian payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Direct and develop a payroll team, focusing on performance management and growth.
• Establish payroll policies and internal controls to meet regulatory standards.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for payroll processes and compliance.
• Collaborate with HRIS and technical teams on payroll system enhancements.
• Oversee payroll tax filings and reconciliations with service providers and agencies.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for operational excellence.
