Job summary

Raise is seeking a Director of Pay Operations to steer payroll and accounts payable across Canada and the US. This leadership role focuses on strategy, compliance, governance, and the health of Pay Operations, including automation and scalability to support 3,500 workers weekly.

You will partner with Finance, Tax, and HR, building a high-performing team and ensuring audit-ready controls while guiding global expansion.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Canadian and US payroll experience.
• 3–5 years leading a payroll team or function at a senior/director level.
• Expertise in payroll taxation and compliance across employee and contingent populations.
• Active practice monitoring payroll legislative changes and assessing organizational impact.
• Proven track record building structure, process, and accountability in evolving payroll environments.

Responsibilities

• Own payroll, AP, and compliance strategy for Canada and US.
• Lead and develop the Pay Operations team.
• Ensure pay operations health with KPIs and quality controls.
• Drive automation and scalable process improvements.
• Prepare for global expansion and EOR readiness.
