Job summary

Teladoc Health in New York, NY seeks a Director of Payroll to lead the U.S. and Canadian payroll operations for about 3,000 employees.

You will drive accuracy, compliance, and process improvement across Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence, Benefits, and Compensation modules, partnering with HR, Finance, Tax, and external vendors. You will build and mentor a payroll team, establish policies and internal controls, ensure SOX compliance, and oversee tax filings, audits, and system upgrades to

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive payroll experience across multiple states.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing payroll teams.
• Experience leading U.S. and Canadian payroll operations.
• Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax and controls.
• Experience with internal controls and SOX compliance.
• Collaboration with HR, Finance, Tax, and external vendors.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead U.S. and Canadian payroll operations with accuracy and compliance.
• Direct and develop a payroll team of Managers and Analysts with performance management.
• Establish and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls for SOX compliance.
• Serve as the primary owner for payroll processes and systems.
• Oversee payroll configurations across Workday modules (Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence, Benefits, Compensation).
• Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations across the U.S. and Canada.
• Oversee tax filings, reconciliations, and vendor coordination.
• Partner with Finance and Stock Administration on equity compensation tax treatment.
• Lead payroll involvement in audits and close activities.
• Monitor service delivery metrics and drive automation and efficiency.
• Manage vendor relationships and performance.
• Support acquisitions and system implementations affecting payroll.
• Maintain payroll governance and controls documentation.
