Job summary

Travere Therapeutics is seeking an experienced Director of Nephrology Research to lead rare kidney disease programs from early concept to IND readiness. The role emphasizes translating cutting-edge science into differentiated therapeutic concepts through external collaborations and cross-functional leadership.

The successful candidate will drive translational pharmacology, biomarker strategies, and program prioritization, with a focus on advancing kidney disease targets using diverse modalities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Life Science or related discipline required; PhD/MD/PharmD preferred.
• 10+ years in biopharmaceutical industry; or 6+ years with PhD/MD/PharmD.
• Expertise in kidney biology, renal physiology, nephrology drug discovery.
• Experience identifying and advancing targets or drug-discovery programs from concept through preclinical development.
• Experience designing and interpreting in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies.
• Experience leading research collaborations with CROs, academic investigators, biotechnology partners, or consultants.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams to advance programs toward IND submission or early clinical development.
• Working knowledge of regulatory expectations for pharmacology and nonclinical packages.
• Demonstrated scientific leadership and ability to work in a cross-functional, matrixed organization.
• Excellent scientific judgment, communication, presentation, collaboration, and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute Travere's research strategy for rare kidney diseases.
• Identify therapeutic opportunities and prioritize programs based on scientific rationale and translational potential.
• Develop research concepts from emerging disease biology, human genetics, clinical observations and advances in therapeutics.
• Maintain awareness of developments across nephrology.
• Serve as scientific lead for nephrology research programs from concept through IND readiness.
• Develop translational strategies linking mechanism of action, target engagement, pharmacodynamic activity and biomarkers.
• Partner with internal and external experts to select and advance the most appropriate therapeutic modality.
• Establish integrated development plans with cross-functional teams.
