Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Controls to lead the Automation & Controls group, partner with engineering, IT, and R&D, and drive capital planning for facilities. The role emphasizes continuous improvement, integration of automation across sites, and maintaining safety and reliability in manufacturing systems.

The position requires a strong background in engineering, 10+ years in manufacturing, and proven leadership across complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across locations.
• Proven team leadership experience.
• Strong relationship-building skills.
• Working knowledge CAD, HMI, PLCs, G-Suite and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans for facilities.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, R&D to integrate automation.
• Oversee capital projects budgeting and reporting.
• Guide engineering practices and avoid obsolescence in controls.
• Provide leadership and promote a collaborative, customer-focused culture.
• Promote safety excellence and machine health.
