Job summary

GAF seeks a Director of Automation and Control Systems to oversee the Automation & Controls group, collaborate with engineering to drive continuous innovation, and support capital planning for manufacturing optimization. The role partners with facilities to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives and production performance.

The position emphasizes leadership, cross-functional integration, safety, and maintaining documentation across projects and sites.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
Proven experience leading a team directly/indirectly.
Proven relationship building and partnerships.
Working knowledge of CAD; HMI development; PLCs; G-Suite; diagnostics tools.

Responsibilities

Lead all functions of Automation and Controls group.
Contribute to 3 & 5 year capital plans for manufacturing facilities.
Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, R&D to integrate Automation and Controls across GAF and Standard Industries.
Oversee all financial responsibilities: capital projects, budgeting, and reporting.
Coordinate with operations systems to identify and implement Automation and Controls software.
Ensure documentation for controls systems is current and well-maintained.
Provide leadership and promote a collaborative, customer-service culture and safety excellence.
