Job summary

GAF, a leading roofing manufacturer in North America, seeks a Director of Automation and Control Systems to guide the Automation & Controls team. You will partner with engineering to drive innovation, support capital planning, and ensure production facilities operate efficiently.

The role emphasizes strategic oversight, collaboration across functions, and delivering reliable automation solutions while maintaining safety and documentation standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven leadership and relationship-building abilities.
• Familiarity with CAD, HMI, PLCs, G-Suite and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans for facilities.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering and others to integrate Automation and Controls.
• Manage financials: capital projects, budgets, and reporting for the team.
• Oversee software identification and implementation for automation systems.
• Promote safety and a culture of continuous improvement; ensure documentation is current.
