Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Controls to lead the Automation & Controls group across multiple facilities. This senior role partners with engineering and IT to drive innovations, capital planning, and continuous improvement while maintaining strong operations support for production sites.

The candidate will guide cross-functional teams, ensure adherence to safety standards, and advance machine health and digital control solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of: CAD; HMI development; PLC; G-Suite; Advanced diagnostic tools

Responsibilities

• Manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Ensure strategic contribution to the manufacturing facilities 3 & 5 year capital plans.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, GAF Business Systems, R&D to integrate the team.
• Manage all financial responsibilities of the Automation and Controls team: capitalized projects; budget development and reporting; collaborate to identify and implement software.
• Oversee engineering practices and application; mitigate obsolescence; manage project development to deployment.
• Provide leadership and promote a collaborative, customer service oriented environment; promote ongoing learning of emerging technologies.
• Promote a culture of safety excellence and ensure compliance with corporate safety standards.
