Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team, partnering with engineering to drive capital planning and manufacturing optimization across facilities.

This role shapes strategy, supervises cross-functional initiatives, and ensures safe, reliable controls, applying advancing technologies to elevate production performance and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven leadership of a team directly or indirectly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD, HMI, PLCs, G-Suite and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, and others to integrate the team.
• Oversee capital projects, budgets, and financial reporting for the team.
• Ensure documentation for controls systems is up to date.
• Promote a collaborative, customer-focused environment and continuous education.
