Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team, partner with engineering, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing facilities. You’ll influence capital planning and deliver strategic technology initiatives while ensuring safe, reliable operations.

You will mentor senior engineers, align projects with corporate goals, and manage budgets, standards, and cross-functional integration to optimize performance and safety across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD; HMI; PLCs; G-Suite; advanced diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3 & 5 year capital plans for manufacturing facilities.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, R&D and others.
• Manage capital projects, budgets, and financial reporting for the team.
• Guide engineering practices and ensure safe, compliant processes.
