Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team and collaboratively drive innovation across manufacturing facilities. The role partners with engineering to align with capital planning and manufacturing optimization initiatives.

The position emphasizes leadership, strategy, and delivering reliable controls technology while ensuring safety and continuous improvement across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of: CAD; HMI development; PLCs; G-Suite; Advanced diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Automation and Controls group functions.
• Contribute to manufacturing facilities 3 & 5 year capital plans.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, GAF Business Systems, R&D.
• Manage capitalized projects, budgets, and financial reporting for the team.
• Guide engineering practices and application across the team; mitigate obsolescence.
• Provide leadership and foster a collaborative, customer-focused environment.
• Promote safety excellence and ensure compliance with corporate standards.
