Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to oversee the Automation & Controls team, working closely with engineering to drive innovation and manufacturing optimization. The role supports capital planning and ensures continuous operational support for production facilities.

Leading cross-functional groups, you will align machine standards, manage budgets, and guide project execution from development to deployment while maintaining rigorous safety practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of: Computer assisted drawing; Human machine interface development; Programmable logic controllers; G-Suite; Advanced diagnostic tools

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Ensure strategic contribution to the manufacturing facilities 3 & 5 year capital plans.
• Collaborate with other functional groups to integrate Automation and Controls team into GAF and Standard Industries; ensure standards.
• Manage all financial responsibilities: capital projects; budget development and reporting; collaborate to identify and implement software.
• Manage engineering practices and application; mitigate obsolescence; oversee project development to deployment; maintain documentation.
• Provide leadership and support for teams; promote a collaborative, customer service culture; promote continuous education; maintain integrity with customers.
• Promote safety excellence and ensure adherence to corporate safety standards.
