Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to oversee the Automation & Controls team, partnering with engineering to foster continuous innovation and align with capital planning and manufacturing optimization across facilities.

This role provides strategic input to multi-year capital plans, drives execution from development to deployment, ensures safety and machine health, and partners with IT, R&D, and corporate engineering to maintain standardization and high performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven experience leading a team and building partnerships.
• Proven ability to develop relationships and partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD, HMI development, PLCs, G-Suite, and advanced diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all functions of the Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, and R&D to integrate Automation and Controls.
• Manage capitalized projects, budgeting, and financial reporting for the team.
• Ensure documentation for controls systems is current and up-to-date.
• Lead and develop departmental teams, promoting safety and continuous education.
