Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Controls to guide the Automation & Controls team, align with engineering on innovation, and support capital planning while ensuring production facilities receive continuous operational support.

The role emphasizes collaboration with IT, R&D, and process services to integrate control systems, drive cost efficiency, and maintain machine health across sites, with a focus on safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of: Computer assisted drawing; Human machine interface development; Programmable logic controllers; G-Suite; Advanced diagnostic tools

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Ensure strategic contribution to the manufacturing facilities 3 & 5 year capital plans.
• Collaborate with other functional groups in order that the Automation and Controls team is integrated into GAF and Standard Industries.
• Manage all financial responsibilities of the Automation and Controls team including budget development and reporting.
• Manage engineering practices and apply improvements from development to deployment.
• Provide leadership and support for departmental teams while promoting a collaborative, customer service philosophy.
• Promote a culture of safety excellence and ensure corporate safety standards are followed.
