Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to steer the Automation & Controls team across our manufacturing footprint. You will guide capital planning, drive improvements, and partner with IT, R&D, and operations to align automation with manufacturing goals.

The role focuses on strategic oversight, project governance, and a strong safety culture while delivering reliable, state-of-the-art control systems for production facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD; HMI development; PLCs; G-Suite; Advanced diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3 & 5 year capital plans for manufacturing facilities.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, R&D to integrate Automation and Controls
• Oversee capital projects, budget development and financial reporting for the team.
• Manage engineering practices and improve controls systems across projects.
• Provide leadership and promote a collaborative, customer-focused culture.
• Promote safety excellence and machine health across teams.
