GAF is hiring a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team, partner with engineering, and drive continuous innovation in manufacturing optimization. The role emphasizes strategic capital planning, cross-functional collaboration across IT, R&D, and process engineering, and strong team leadership for multiple facilities.

The position focuses on maintaining machine standards, budgeting, and advancing safety and process improvements while ensuring documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of: Computer aided drawing; Human machine interface development; Programmable logic controllers; G-Suite; Advanced diagnostic tools.
• Budget Responsibility: yes

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Ensure strategic contribution to the manufacturing facilities 3 & 5 year capital plans.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, R&D to integrate automation and controls.
• Manage all financial responsibilities: capitalized projects, budgets, and reporting.
• Oversee engineering practices and mitigate obsolescence in controls systems.
• Provide leadership and promote a collaborative, customer-focused environment.
• Promote safety excellence and adherence to corporate safety standards.
