Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls group, partner with engineering, and guide continuous innovation across manufacturing facilities. This role drives capital planning, supplier relations, and cross-functional integration to optimize processes and safety.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in manufacturing, a Bachelor’s in Engineering, and proven leadership across multiple sites with a strong focus on PLCs, HMI development, and CAD

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD, HMI development, PLCs, G-Suite, and advanced diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3 & 5 year capital plans for manufacturing facilities.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Eng., GAF Business Systems, and R&D to integrate Automation and Controls into the organization.
• Manage all financial responsibilities including capitalized projects and budgeting for the team.
• Oversee software identification and implementation with operations systems.
• Lead engineering practices and ensure documentation is up to date for all projects.
• Provide leadership and foster a collaborative, customer-focused environment.
