Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team across multiple facilities. You will collaborate with engineering to drive continuous innovation, oversee capital planning, and support production with robust control systems strategies.

You will guide engineering practices, maintain machine standards, and ensure safety and compliance while building strong partnerships across IT, R&D, and corporate teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD; HMI development; PLCs; G-Suite; Advanced diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Ensure strategic contribution to the manufacturing facilities 3 & 5 year capital plans.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, GAF Business Systems, R&D to integrate the team.
• Manage all financial responsibilities including capitalized projects and budgeting.
• Partner with operations systems to identify and implement automation software.
• Provide leadership, promote safety, and foster a culture of continuous education.
