Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team, partnering with engineering to drive innovation and manufacturing optimization. The role shapes capital planning and ensures production facilities receive strong operational support while advancing safety and machine health.

Ideal candidates will bring 10+ years in manufacturing, proven leadership, and deep experience with CAD, HMI development, PLCs, and G-Suite, guiding cross-functional projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven leadership and ability to build partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD, HMI, PLCs, G-Suite and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Automation and Controls functions across facilities.
• Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, and R&D to integrate automation into operations.
• Lead budgeting, financial reporting for automation programs.
• Drive safety and continuous improvement in machine health and processes.
• Provide leadership and develop a high-performing team.
