Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking an Engineer, Development – WEST to design and engineer utility-scale PV and battery energy storage projects in early-stage development in the West region. The role includes production modeling, layout, sizing, and preliminary cost estimates, coordinating internal resources for civil/geotechnical work.

The candidate will support responses to RFPs, permits, interconnection filings, and technical due diligence to optimize designs.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical) or equivalent technical field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in energy system design or consulting.
• Proficiency with PV modeling tools PVsyst, Solar Farmer, SAM and AutoCAD.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally.
• Self-starter able to work in remote/distributed teams.
• Ability to manage third-party consultants, vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary plant designs, site layouts and one-line diagrams for greenfield development and RFP-support projects.
• Select primary project equipment based on site conditions and utility requirements.
• Model energy production and battery dispatch.
• Conduct site evaluations and technical diligence on third-party documents.
• Support pricing and value engineering with internal teams.
