Job summary

AES Corporation invites a qualified Engineer, Development - West to design utility-scale PV and battery storage projects in early-stage development. You will produce plant layouts, perform energy modeling, and support RFP responses, interconnection filings, and due diligence.

This remote role may involve travel to project sites. You will join a West-region team, collaborating with internal CAD and engineering resources, driving cost estimates, and contributing to safety and design tool

Qualifications

• Undergraduate engineering degree (electrical or mechanical) or equivalent.
• 3+ years in energy system design or consulting.
• Proficiency with PVsyst, Solar Farmer, SAM, and AutoCAD.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Remote work capability and self-starter attitude.
• Ability to manage third-party consultants and internal stakeholders.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary plant designs and site layouts for greenfield development and RFP-support projects.
• Model energy production and battery dispatch.
• Conduct site evaluations and assess technical constraints.
• Perform technical due diligence on third-party documents and data.
• Support pricing and value engineering with internal teams.
• Lead process/tool improvements for cost estimates and designs.
• Attend site safety walks and obtain safety certifications.
