Job summary

Our client, a leading renewable energy developer, seeks a Project Engineer – Solar + Energy Storage to support development and execution of utility-scale projects from early stage through commercial operations.

The ideal Electrical Engineer will work with development, engineering, procurement, construction, utilities, and leadership to ensure technically sound execution, optimize economics, and drive long-term asset performance on some of the world’s largest solar and storage deployments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; other engineering disciplines considered with directly applicable utility-scale renewable energy experience.
Approximately 4–12 years of engineering experience supporting utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, or renewable energy infrastructure projects.
Experience supporting projects from greenfield development (or mergers and acquisitions) through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations.
Strong understanding of utility-scale solar photovoltaic systems and battery energy storage technologies.
Experience leading technical due diligence activities for renewable energy development projects.
Demonstrated experience developing engineering specifications, technical drawings, contract exhibits, and EPC documentation.
Experience supporting EPC contractor selection and engineering oversight during construction.
Knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and major equipment procurement.
Experience supporting utility interconnection activities, including coordination with utilities, independent system operators, and transmission providers.
Familiarity with LGIA, interconnection studies, and utility coordination processes is highly desirable.
Strong analytical, communication, and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering support throughout the full project lifecycle, from greenfield development through commercial operation
Lead technical due diligence efforts for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects
Develop engineering specifications, one-line diagrams, technical exhibits, and supporting documentation for EPC contracts
Coordinate engineering activities during project execution, including technical reviews, issue resolution, and design optimization
Evaluate engineering alternatives that improve project performance, constructability, reliability, and financial outcomes
Support EPC contractor selection by reviewing technical proposals and participating in contract development
Assist with the specification, evaluation, and procurement of major electrical equipment, including high-voltage systems
Coordinate equipment integration between owner-furnished and EPC-provided systems
Provide engineering support for utility interconnection activities, including coordination with utilities and ISOs
Assist with interconnection agreements, utility studies, and transmission-related technical requirements
Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with technical standards
