Job summary

AES Corporation seeks an Engineer, Development - WEST to design and engineer utility-scale PV and BESS projects in early-stage development across the West region. You will model production, size facilities, and support interconnection and permit activities with internal teams.

The role requires PV/BESS design experience, strong communication, and the ability to work remotely in a distributed team, with up to 10% travel to project sites. AES offers robust benefits and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate engineering degree (electrical or mechanical preferred) or equivalent.
• 3+ years in energy system design or consulting.
• Proficiency with PVsyst, Solar Farmer, SAM and AutoCAD.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to work remotely in a distributed team.
• Proficient with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary plant designs, site layouts, and single-line diagrams with internal CAD and interconnection teams.
• Model energy production and battery dispatch.
• Conduct site evaluations remote and in-person for feasibility.
• Support pricing, value engineering, and project cost estimates.
• Coordinate with internal teams for tender responses and permit applications.
• Ensure safety and design integrity throughout development.
