Job summary

Stantec’s Southern California team is seeking a Deputy Project Manager with Planning experience to join our Environmental Services Practice. You will support general project management, lead technical document development, and coordinate environmental permitting for utility clients.

You will manage multi-disciplinary teams, oversee environmental studies and CEQA/NEPA tasks, and assist in proposals. A strong background in land use planning for electrical transmission projects is preferred.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with utility environmental review processes and permitting assessment is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of project or program management experience, preferably in natural resources planning and permitting in California.
• Experience leading consulting teams of 15+ staff and fostering an inclusive, productive culture.
• Ability to prioritize and balance workloads in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong resource planning, results delivery, and client relationship skills.
• Ability to identify issues and provide project-level solutions across multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide general project management support: scheduling, cost control, risk management, change management, and document control.
• Lead development of technical documents and coordination of environmental permitting for utility programs.
• Manage multi-disciplinary project teams and ensure delivery of technical studies and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with proposals including scope and budgets for environmental services tasks.
• Develop efficient workflows and communication plans for programs/projects.
• Mentor and coach team members to improve technical report delivery and client service.
