Job summary

Stantec’s Southern California team seeks a Deputy Project Manager with Planning experience to join our Environmental Services Practice in the power utility sector. You will support project management, lead environmental permitting, and contribute to proposals within a collaborative team environment.

You will oversee multi-disciplinary teams, manage schedules and budgets, and guide technical documents and studies including CEQA/NEPA support.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with utility-related environmental review and permitting; preference for Southern California regional knowledge.
• Minimum 3 years of project management experience in natural resources planning and permitting in California.
• Experience leading consulting teams of 15+ staff and fostering an inclusive and productive team culture.
• Ability to prioritize and balance workloads in a highly mobile and changing environment.
• Ability to identify opportunities and build relationships with clients.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Manage schedules, deliverables, budgets, staff, and bring program/project scopes to successful completion.
• Develop workflow processes and program/project communication plans.
• Proactively identify client needs and initiatives to address delivery risks.
• Provide planning and permitting support for electrical transmission and distribution projects.
• Oversee multi-disciplinary team to deliver technical documents and studies and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Interact with clients and agencies; mentor and train staff; assist with proposals.
