Job summary

First Help Financial, LLC is seeking a Legal and Deficiency Recovery Manager to establish and lead the post charge-off program for the collections team. The role focuses on building a compliant framework, overseeing outside counsel, and ensuring lawful consumer interactions across multiple states.

The manager will own all regulatory reporting, monitor escalation thresholds, and guide vendor oversight to maximize recoveries while maintaining strict FDCPA compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in legal operations, compliance management, or collections oversight within consumer lending or auto finance.
• Strong knowledge of FDCPA, UDAAP, and state consumer protection laws.
• Experience managing bankruptcy filings and SCRA compliance for servicemember accounts.
• Ability to read and interpret collections performance data without a data team.

Responsibilities

• Own the legal and compliance reporting within the collections KPI package.
• Lead compliance framework and ensure consumer interactions are legally sound.
• Oversee vendor and outside counsel oversight for post charge-off activities.
• Develop and implement a deficiency recovery program with settlement letters and escalation.
• Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries and train staff on compliance.
