Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement, operate, and improve protection controls across the enterprise data estate. You will work with Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, and SQL Server to secure data pipelines and enforce least-privilege access.

The role emphasizes encryption, key management, labeling, masking, and secure data workflows, partnering with Security Operations and Data & Analytics teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering, or a related field, including 2+ years focused on data protection or database security.
• Proficiency with SQL and ability to assess queries, permissions, schemas, and database security configurations.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Embed security controls into data ingestion, transformation, and sharing workflows.
• Harden security configurations for cloud data platforms and databases.
• Automate control deployment and compliance validation using scripting and IaC.
• Provide hands-on technical support and guidance to IT teams on secure data solutions.
