Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is a team of innovators with a people-centered approach. This 100% remote Data Security Engineer role focuses on encryption, access controls, data classification, masking, and secure pipelines across the enterprise data estate.

You will collaborate with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, Data Governance, and IT teams to implement controls for Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, and SQL Server, ensuring compliance and robust data security fundamentals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with SQL and platform security configurations.
• Scripting and automation using APIs, IaC and related tooling.

Responsibilities

• Implements data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Configures encryption controls for data at rest and in transit and manages keys/secrets.
• Enforces least-privilege access models and conducts entitlement reviews.
• Embeds security controls into data ingestion, transformation, and sharing workflows.
