Job summary

Connections In Ohio Inc is seeking a Data Entry Specialist to manage inbound fax documentation, enter data, and route information to scheduling, billing, and clinical workflows. This is a temporary/PRN position with paid training and a pathway to supportive benefits.

The role requires 1 year of data entry or customer service experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to handle a high-volume phone system. Pays $20.75 per hour with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• One (1) year customer service and/or data entry experience.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.
• Ability to successfully use a multi-level phone system with high call volume.
• 21 years or older; High school diploma/GED and valid Driver License (4 points or less).
• Reliable transportation and Auto Insurance.

Responsibilities

• Review and classify inbound faxed documents (clinical notes, reports, authorizations, lab results, demographics, etc.).
• Upload documents into patient charts and route to appropriate departments.
• Enter and validate demographic, insurance, and billing details across payer categories.
• Process and validate orders/referrals to ensure complete information (modality, body part, ICD-10, urgency, provider comments).
• Provide backup coverage for related administrative workflows during high-volume periods.

As a Data Entry Specialist, you will be responsible for managing inbound documentation through the fax queue, ensuring timely and accurate processing, data entry, and routing of information that supports patient scheduling, billing, and clinical workflows.

This is a temporary/PRN position.

Full job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

(90%) Document Intake & Processing

• Review and classify inbound faxed documents, including but not limited to clinical notes, diagnostic reports, insurance authorizations/denials, lab/pathology results, demographic sheets, medical records requests, radiology orders, and legal/workers' compensation/attorney paperwork
• Upload documents into patient charts, route to appropriate departments, or initiate follow-up workflows as required
• Locate and validate patient records and resolve duplicate accounts/records
• Enter and validate all required demographic information and insurance and billing details across all payer categories (Commercial/Government, Workers' Compensation, Auto/PI, Attorney/LOP, Self-Pay)
• Process and validate orders/referrals to ensure complete and accurate information (modality, body part, contrast, laterality, ICD-10 coding, urgency status, provider comments)
• Confirm referring provider details, submit provider update requests (RPDs), and ensure compliance with credentialing standards and payer regulations

(10%) Other Duties as Assigned

• Initiate necessary follow-up with referring physicians and/or patients as required
• Support cross-functional administrative projects or department initiatives as assigned
• Participate in training, audits, and process improvement activities
• Provide backup coverage for related administrative workflows during high-volume periods or team member absences

Requirements:

• High school diploma, or equivalent
• One (1) year customer service and/or data entry experience
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc
• Proficient using computer systems and typing
• Ability to successfully use a multi-level phone system, receiving a high volume of calls, at one time
• 21 years or older
• High school diploma/GED
• Valid Driver License (4 points or less)
• Reliable transportation and Auto Insurance

Preferred:

• Medical terminology background
• Two (2) years' customer service and data entry experience
