Job summary

CVS Health is hiring a fully remote Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines powering a new self-service platform. You will work with senior engineers to ingest, transform, and serve data, improving data quality and accessibility at scale.

The role emphasizes reliable, well-tested pipelines, real-time ingestion, and collaboration across teams. 2+ years in data engineering with strong SQL and Python skills are expected.

Qualifications

• 2 years of professional data engineering or software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in SQL including writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex queries against large datasets.
• Experience with a cloud data warehouse or data platform (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure Synapse, Databricks).
• Proficiency with Git-based version control, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and automated deployment workflows (GitHub Actions).

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and improve data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Python for reliability, scalability, and observability.
• Write and optimize SQL queries to support data ingestion, transformation, troubleshooting, and validation in the data warehouse.
• Contribute to data modeling and maintain data integrity within the Snowflake platform.
• Integrate with Kafka-driven event streams for real-time and near-real-time ingestion under guidance.
• Write clean, well-tested code and ensure unit/integration test coverage for pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain QA and CI/CD practices.
• Contribute to monitoring, logging, and alerting; respond to production incidents as part of on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with senior engineers; seek mentorship and share learnings.
