Job summary

Iron Mountain Data Centers is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to serve as the global technical authority for utility, HV/MV/LV distribution, standby generation, UPS, energy storage, earthing, and power-quality systems. You will lead as an enterprise expert, establishing technical direction and governing global standards across new developments and ongoing operations.

Qualifications

• Typically 15+ years of relevant experience with multi‑project leadership across data centers or mission-critical programs.
• Expertise across utility strategy, HV/MV/LV distribution, energy storage, and power quality.
• Proven ability to govern global approval frameworks and balance resilience with CapEx/OpEx and utility constraints.
• Strong executive presence, influencing and negotiation skills for leadership, customers and regulators.
• University degree in Electrical Engineering; PE/Chartered license strongly preferred; travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Set global technical direction for utility interconnects and distribution across the platform.
• Govern global standards, basis of design, specifications, and risk frameworks.
• Advise executive leadership on technical strategy and long-term infrastructure roadmaps.
• Direct equipment strategy and incident investigations with Supply Chain involvement.
• Build a global electrical community of practice and mentor engineers.
