Job summary

Iron Mountain Data Centers seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to serve as the global technical authority for utility, HV/MV/LV distribution, UPS, energy storage, and power-quality systems across its worldwide portfolio.

You will set technical direction, govern global standards, and lead executive-level advisory discussions while mentoring senior engineers, traveling up to 25% to support major capital programs and customer deployments.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of multi‑market leadership in data center or mission‑critical programs.
• Expertise in utility strategy, HV/MV/LV distribution, protective relaying, energy storage and power quality.
• Ability to govern global approval frameworks and manage systemic risk while balancing resilience and costs.
• Strong executive communication, influencing, and negotiation skills for leadership, customers, regulators, and manufacturers.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Set Global Technical Direction for distribution, UPS, energy storage, and standby generation.
• Govern global standards, Basis of Design, and technical specifications; approve deviations and risks.
• Advise executive leadership on strategy, investments, and roadmaps for infrastructure technology.
• Direct equipment strategy for OFCI and lead root-cause investigations to improve standards.
• Build a global electrical community of practice and mentor senior engineers.
