Job summary

Sompo is seeking an experienced Crop Insurance Underwriter for our Southeast team. The position can be fully remote in multiple states including Georgia.

You will review, analyze and inspect insurance contracts, applications, production and acreage reports, and provide exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include applying underwriting rules, obtaining documentation from agents, meeting deadlines, data entry, evaluating coverages, and maintaining strong agent relationships.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in crop insurance.
• Ability to assess insurance documents and apply underwriting rules.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Assess insurance documents such as applications, production reports, acreage reports, and apply underwriting rules.
• Obtain documentation from agents and follow up on required clarification.
• Meet agent deadlines established by Risk Management Agency (RMA) policy and procedure.
• Data entry including policy information, production data, acreage report data, etc. and updates records. Confirms accuracy of information.
• Evaluate existing coverage amounts to determine benefit amounts.
• Contact agents to clarify and correct any inconsistent information.
• Maintain effective, professional, and productive agent relationships.
• Answer calls and emails from agents and research agent questions.
• Attend training classes to further education and knowledge within the crop insurance industry.
• Confirm and/or verify policy forms in accordance with RMA guidelines and approve acceptance.
• Work Policy Acceptance and Storage System (PASS) Errors.
• Excellent customer service skills with ability to keep customers as the top priority.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Conduct policy and procedure research.
• Conduct policy Reviews including but not limited to, applications, production, acreage, and quality assurance.
• Process Written Agreements.
• Other duties as necessary
