Job summary

The Trevor Project is seeking a Team Lead to oversee TrevorText, TrevorChat, and TrevorLifeline. You will manage a direct service team, coach staff, align goals with our mission, and ensure high-quality crisis support for LGBTQ+ youth 24/7.

This exempt full-time role is remote across the continental U.S., Alaska, or Hawaii, reporting to the Manager of Crisis Services. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and ready for non-traditional hours.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field is required
• 5+ years crisis care or relevant professional experience
• LiCSW license preferred
• Strong English communication and active listening skills
• Knowledge of LGBTQ+ issues and crisis protocols
• Experience supervising crisis-care staff

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, coach, and manage a team of direct reports with accountability for performance
• Monitor quality and productivity, provide real-time feedback across shifts
• Oversee shift queue management and counselor availability
• Support staff inquiries, escalations, and after-action reviews
• Handle administrative tasks such as timesheets, attendance, and documentation
• Coordinate with third parties (law enforcement, child welfare) when safety concerns arise
• Contribute to training and onboarding of counselors and ongoing QA
