Job summary

Elevance Health is seeking a Crisis & Referral Specialist to provide telephonic crisis intervention, screen and assess callers, and connect them with appropriate services. This remote role supports a 24/7 call center with in-person training sessions as required.

The ideal candidate will have a HS diploma or equivalent with 1 year in behavioral health or 6 months crisis experience, and may have a BS/BA in a human services field. Training begins soon, with shift options including weekends.

Qualifications

• Requires a HS diploma or the equivalent and a minimum of 1 year of experience in behavioral health or a minimum of 6 months of direct crisis experience to include screenings and assessments to determine appropriate interventions; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
• Preferred: BS/BA degree in a mental health or other human services field with two years of direct behavioral health experience.

Responsibilities

• Takes inbound calls from individuals needing support, services, or who may be in crisis.
• Performs safety screenings and assessments to discern presence and acuity of risk.
• Uses caller information to understand needs and develop a plan of action with the individual.
• Completes appropriate, timely, and accurate documentation of interactions.
• Provides linkage follow-up to assure individuals access services.
• Coordinates with other agencies to ensure optimal use of resources and supports.
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulations.
