Job summary

Heart of Florida United Way is seeking a Crisis Intervention Specialist to provide suicide prevention support, safety planning, and crisis de-escalation within a 211 and Crisis Services framework.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field, 1 year in social services, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to work remotely in a fast-paced call center environment; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and relevant crisis intervention experience may be considered.
  • One year of experience in social services, crisis hotline, contact center, or information and referral service preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required.
  • Client management databases or other relational database experience, preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and human services desired.
  • Ability to effectively assess client needs and show sensitivity to issues presented by contacts.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced contact center.
  • Must have access to a private, secure, and stable high-speed internet connection.
  • Must have access to a quiet, confidential workspace.
  • Ability to attend in-person meetings and events as required by the role.
  • Ability to pass level II background screening.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound 988 Lifeline and 211 contacts.
  • Handle high-risk and sensitive crisis situations with empathy and discretion.
  • Assess contact needs using active listening and targeted questions.
  • Provide screenings for specialized programs as needed.
  • Refer contacts to appropriate community resources and services.
  • Maintain accurate data in the case management databases.
  • Uphold confidentiality and privacy per HIPAA, FIPA, PHI, and PII.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings, including in-person events.
  • Contribute to organizational success as assigned.
