Job summary

Heart of Florida United Way in Orlando is seeking a dedicated crisis counselor to provide suicide intervention, safety planning, and brief assessments within a contact center.

You will handle 988 and 211 contacts, refer to social services, maintain confidentiality, and participate in training; bilingual English/Spanish preferred; remote work available. Requires bachelor’s in related field and 1 year of crisis experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field required.

Responsibilities

• Answer inbound 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and 211 information and referral contacts.
• Assess contact’s needs using active listening principles.
• Provide screenings for specialized programs.
• Refer contacts using multiple databases.
• Maintain data in databases with accuracy.
• Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA/PHI/PII compliance.
• Attend required trainings and meetings.
