Job summary
Cognizant is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support core banking systems including Deposits, Loans, Customer/Account Management, and General Ledger. The role focuses on COBOL-based mainframe environments, batch processing, and production support for critical banking applications.
Ideal candidates have 5+ years of hands-on mainframe experience, strong knowledge of COBOL/JCL/VSAM, and familiarity with Endevor, Xpediter, and Easytrieve.
Qualifications
- 5+ years hands-on mainframe development using COBOL, JCL, VSAM and batch processing.
- Strong experience in core banking areas: deposits, loans, customer/account management, ledgers and tax systems.
- Familiarity with mainframe tools like Endevor, Xpediter and Easytrieve.
- Knowledge of CICS/IMS is preferred.
- Banking domain experience and production support capabilities are essential.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe apps supporting core banking operations.
- Analyze requirements and translate them into mainframe solutions.
- Develop and support batch jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM.
- Perform debugging, troubleshooting and production support tasks.
- Collaborate with analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders on enhancements.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, SIT/UAT, and deployments.
