Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support core banking systems, including Deposits, Loans, Customer & Account Management, General Ledger, and Tax applications. You will work on COBOL-based mainframe environments with batch processing and essential tooling.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, testing, debugging, and production support, with collaboration across business and tech stakeholders in a remote US setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Mainframe development with COBOL/JCL/VSAM and batch processing.
• Strong banking domain knowledge across Deposits, Loans, Customer/Account Management, GL and Tax systems.
• Experience with mainframe tools: Endevor, Xpediter, Easytrieve.
• Knowledge of CICS and IMS is preferred; FIS Systematics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe apps supporting core banking operations.
• Analyze requirements and translate them into mainframe solutions.
• Develop and support batch jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and related tools.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues; provide production support.
• Collaborate with analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders on enhancements.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, SIT/UAT, and deployments.
