Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support core banking applications including Deposits, Loans, Customer/Account Management, GL and Tax systems. You will work in COBOL-based mainframe environments, handling batch processing, debugging, and production support.

The role offers a remote position across the United States with flexible work arrangements and a comprehensive benefits package. A minimum of 5 years’ hands‑on experience is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of mainframe development in COBOL/JCL/VSAM environments.
• Experience with core banking modules such as deposits, loans, customer/account mgmt, GL, tax.
• Familiarity with mainframe tools Endevor, Xpediter and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe applications for core banking operations.
• Analyze requirements and translate them into mainframe solutions.
• Develop and support batch jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM and related tech.
• Perform debugging, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and production support.
• Collaborate with analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders to implement enhancements.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, SIT/UAT support, and deployment activities.
