Job summary

Medisca, a global provider of pharmaceutical ingredients and services, seeks a Compounding Specialist to support internal and external clients on formulation inquiries and compounding practice standards. The role offers guidance on niche areas such as peptides, hormone restoration therapy, veterinary compounding, and dermatology.

Qualifications

• Educational background: BS Pharmacy, PharmD or Pharmacy Technician.
• 3–5 years as a Pharmacist in pharmaceutical compounding (or 1 year in Compounding Pharmacy lab for pharmacists); Technician – 10 years in compounding industry.
• Peptide formulation and education experience (sterile and non-sterile).
• 503A, 503B and cGMP experience.
• Knowledge of USP, NAPRA, FDA, Health Canada, and state/provincial boards of pharmacy.
• Experience in training and/or teaching to pharmacists and lab technicians.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Excellent communication skills; Fluent in English (oral & written).

Responsibilities

• Review formulas and non-sterile and sterile formulations as per client requests.
• Evaluate client requests for safety, efficacy, justification, dosage and route of administration.
• Verify formulas based on primary literature.
• Verify API/excipient compatibility and stability in formulation.
• Verify calculations, steps, sensitivities, labels, and regulatory parameters.
• Respond to client inquiries via email or phone.
• Provide consultation on troubleshooting compounding issues.
• Support in calculations, base selection, ingredient compatibility and formulation chemistry.
• Consult on peptides, hormone restoration therapy, veterinary compounding, pain management and dermatology.
• Stay current with standards of practice and regulatory guidelines.
• Assist in development of SOPs / Policies & Procedures and QA improvements.
