Job summary

Optum Insight is transforming health data flow to improve care coordination and outcomes. We seek a Coder III to assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 codes for Same Day Surgery, IVR, and Observation across our health system.

Responsibilities include chart review, documentation feedback, and queries to clinicians to ensure accuracy. This role supports KPI targets and revenue cycle while allowing telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and AHIMA/APPC coding certification.
• Maintain AHIMA or AAPC credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC/CPC-H).
• 2+ years Same Day Surgery, IVR, CVIR, or Observation coding experience.
• 2+ years ICD-10 coding experience and a Windows PC environment.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses, ICD-10-PCS procedures, and CPT-4 codes per guidelines.
• Code Same Day Surgery, IVR, CIVR (specialty), and Observation cases; other charts as needed.
• Review documentation, provide feedback, and query physicians when needed.
• Enter data into encoder/abstracting systems and verify patient disposition.
• Meet KPI-driven productivity and quality targets; support revenue cycle activities.
