Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to support WaveMark Solutions, owning production and non-production reliability, uptime, and performance for cloud databases. You will drive automation, observability, and continuous delivery with IT and software teams.

The role emphasizes securing data governance, patching, and access controls while collaborating on modern deployment automation and data movement architectures. Remote US-based position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field, preferred.
• 5+ years managing production Oracle databases in a regulated healthcare environment, preferred.
• Experience with Oracle DB administration and cloud platforms like AWS RDS or GCP, preferred.
• Knowledge of database automation, scripting and deployment processes, preferred.
• Familiarity with observability frameworks and telemetry-driven operations, preferred.
• Knowledge of site reliability engineering concepts (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, automation), preferred.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms and Infrastructure as Code, preferred.
• Understanding HIPAA, FedRAMP, HITRUST or healthcare compliance standards, preferred.
• Familiarity with CDC technologies and Kubernetes-based environments, preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle (primary) and other databases in cloud environments.
• Build and manage monitoring, auditing, logging, and alerting systems.
• Establish and maintain runbooks and operational standards.
• Support application deployments and database releases.
• Analyze and optimize database performance across environments.
• Perform root cause analysis of performance incidents.
• Design and automate database refresh processes between environments.
• Design data masking processes for non-production environments.
