Cardinal Health is seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to support WaveMark Solutions, a mission-critical cloud platform. You will own production and non-production reliability, uptime, performance, security, automation, and DR strategies for cloud databases across Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL in managed environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years managing production Oracle databases in a regulated healthcare environment preferred.
• Experience with Oracle DB administration and cloud platforms such as AWS RDS or GCP preferred.
• Knowledge of database automation, scripting, and deployment processes preferred.
• Familiarity with observability frameworks and telemetry-driven operations preferred.
• Knowledge of site reliability engineering principles (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, automated remediation) preferred.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD platforms and Infrastructure as Code preferred.
• Understanding of healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, FedRAMP, HITRUST) preferred.
• Familiarity with CDC technologies and Kubernetes-based environments preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle (primary), MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases in managed cloud environments.
• Build and manage monitoring, auditing, logging, and alerting systems for DB health.
• Establish and maintain operational standards, documentation, and runbooks.
• Support application deployments and database releases.
• Analyze and optimize database performance across environments.
• Perform root cause analysis of performance incidents.
• Design and automate database refresh processes between environments.
• Design and implement data masking for non-production environments.
• Collaborate on regulatory audits with security and compliance teams.
• Partner on data governance, patching, and access controls.
• Modernize deployment automation with development teams.
• Test backup, restore, replication, and failure strategies for DR/BCP.
