Cardinal Health is seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to support WaveMark Solutions, ensuring reliability, uptime, and security of cloud databases across production and non-production environments. You will collaborate with software and IT teams to drive automation, observability, and continuous delivery practices.

The role demands experience with Oracle databases in healthcare settings, cloud platforms like AWS RDS or GCP, and strong scripting and deployment skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years managing production Oracle databases in healthcare environment preferred.
• Experience with Oracle DB administration and cloud DB platforms (AWS RDS, GCP) preferred.
• Knowledge of automation, scripting, and deployment processes preferred.
• Familiarity with observability and telemetry-driven operations preferred.
• Understanding of CI/CD and IaC concepts preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, FedRAMP, HITRUST) preferred.
• Experience with Kubernetes-based environments preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle (primary), MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases in cloud environments.
• Build and manage monitoring, auditing, logging, and alerting systems.
• Establish operational standards, runbooks, and documentation.
• Support application deployments and database releases.
• Analyze and optimize database performance across environments.
• Perform root cause analysis of performance incidents.
• Design and automate database refresh processes between prod and non-prod.
• Design data masking processes for non-prod environments.
• Collaborate on regulatory audits with security/compliance teams.
• Enhance data governance, patching, secret management, and access controls.
• Partner with dev teams to modernize deployment automation and data movement.
• Design and test backup, restore, replication, and RPO/RTO strategies.
